Being selected for the Panthers U17 squad is an achievement reached by only a small number of athletes across the Midlands each year. To have Luccia Baldwin, Amelia Ross and Isla Batchelor all selected at the same time is a rare and outstanding accomplishment, and one that highlights both their talent and commitment to the sport.
Alongside their GCSE studies, the girls train and compete for more than 15 hours every week, showing impressive dedication both in the classroom and on court. Isla Batchelor plays as a shooter, while Amelia Ross and Luccia Baldwin play in centre court positions, where they are known for their pace, control and tactical awareness.
Their success reflects the strength of our netball programme and our school’s growing reputation for supporting students who aspire to play sport at the highest level. We are proud to offer specialist coaching, structured strength and conditioning programmes, nutritional guidance and tailored academic support, helping our athletes balance elite sport with their education.
Sophie Masterson, our Elite Netball Director, said: “To have three students selected for the same NPL squad is extremely rare and speaks volumes about their talent, work ethic and resilience. We are proud to be developing an environment where young athletes can pursue elite sport without compromising their education.”
The Birmingham Panthers NPL programme is nationally recognised as an important stepping stone towards Super League franchises and professional netball. Selection places our students among the most promising young netball players in the Midlands and beyond.
With more and more students progressing into county, regional and national pathways, our school is becoming known as a hub for elite netball development, combining academic excellence with professional-standard sporting support.
