We have a full range of facilities to support your daughter depending on her needs, including:
The Nest
A calming space designed for sensory exploration and wellbeing.
The Learning Den
A supportive space where pupils receive one-to-one guidance, focused on positive interventions that make a real difference.
Nurses Office
A caring, confidential space where pupils can access support for injuries, health concerns, or simply take time to talk and be heard.
Communication with Parents
Open and constructive communication with parents is central to our pastoral approach. We provide regular updates on each child’s academic and personal development and actively encourage parents to engage with us. By working in partnership, our aim is to ensure that every pupil receives the comprehensive support they need to flourish.
Prep Pastoral Support
We foster an environment in which pupils feel confident to share any concerns, enabling us to respond promptly, sensitively and effectively.
Our staff are committed to knowing each pupil as an individual. By understanding their unique strengths, interests and areas for development, we are able to tailor support and learning experiences to help every child reach their full potential.
Alongside academic progress, we place equal importance on pupils’ physical health and their mental and emotional wellbeing. Dedicated spaces such as The Nest and The Learning Den provide safe, supportive spaces for our pupils.
In the Preparatory School, our Learning Support Co-ordinator (SENDCo) works closely with pupils who have identified or emerging additional learning needs, ensuring they receive appropriate support to help them thrive both academically and personally.
As every child is unique, any provision required is considered carefully as part of the admissions process and discussed in partnership with parents. We encourage families to be open and transparent about any existing diagnoses, assessments, support plans or concerns so that we can fully understand and consider how best to support their daughter.
Parents are strongly encouraged to read our SEND Policy, which outlines our approach to supporting pupils with additional needs and provides further information about the provision available at the School.

Moving up to Senior School
Well before your child completes Preparatory School, she’ll start looking forward to - and preparing for - the move up to Senior School. New friends, new challenges, new opportunities. All in familiar surroundings if she remains at EHS.
To help her get ready, we organise a range of activities. Starting in Year Four, alongside the curriculum, your daughter will attend ‘taster’ lessons in our Senior School, including Science, languages, art, and Classics, and gain practice in taking exams and in non-verbal and verbal reasoning. In Year Five, she’ll spend a whole morning in our Senior School, and we arrange regular catch-ups, where girls can ask any questions about moving up.
We are also very experienced in preparing and supporting girls in gaining places at other senior schools. For example, in Year Six, they can attend a special Induction Day at their chosen schools, giving them the chance to spend time with their new classmates and teachers. However, we are delighted when girls decide to stay with us to continue their schooling. Once they’ve become part of the EHS family, remaining here for Year 7 and beyond puts them in a favourable position when progressing to higher education.
