Have an excellent foundation on which to build a wide range of careers. EHS Geographers have gone on to study medicine, law, psychology, as well as a wide range of the usual geographically orientated courses.

Develop a wide range of skills, useful both now and in the future, including practical map reading skills, information and communication skills and an ability to use technology such as GIS.

Enhance your communication skills, such as report writing, decision making, putting forward arguments, analysing data and working in teams on a project.

Course Content and Assessment

"Our Natural World" Exam (35%)

1 hour and 15 minutes

The "Our Natural World" examination, which covers physical geography, is 1 hour and 15 minutes long and constitutes 35% of the total mark

"People and Society" Exam (35%)

1 hour and 15 minutes

The "People and Society" examination, focused on human geography, also lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes and accounts for 35% of the total mark

"Geographical Exploration (DME)" Exam (30%)

1 hour and 30 minutes

Lastly, the "Geographical Exploration (DME)" examination has a duration of 1 hour hour and 30 minutes and contributes the final 30% to the overall mark.

Fieldwork

Fieldwork is an important focus of the course. The students will participate in practical fieldwork in both human and physical geography and their experiences of this will be examined in both the Our Natural World and People and Society papers.
