Food & Nutrition

Our Food and Nutrition department is one of the most popular with students. In Year 10, the GCSE pupils can extend their technical skills after school, in a 2-and-a-half-hour session once a half term. This includes making dishes such as profiteroles, lasagne including home-made pasta, and a lemon meringue pie.

Students have the opportunity to extend their practical skills whilst supporting other subjects or real-life events, for example partnering with the Classics department for the Year 7 Roman Bake Off and the annual charity House Bake Off, open to all year groups.

Design & Tech

In our fantastically well-equipped technology department, students learn the important technical knowledge about a range of different materials needed for the ever-changing world of Design Technology. This is combined with experimentation in designing, construction and surface treatments to create exciting, creative and innovative outcomes. The suite of rooms has state of the art equipment including a computer suite and three Textiles rooms providing a sewing machine for each pupil, 3D printers, a laser cutter and CAD/CAM embroidery sewing machines.

Art

The Art Department provides a space where students have the freedom to express their ideas and thoughts and work creatively to develop their passions.
