There is a wide programme of regular lunchtime careers talks and workshops, which are available to all students. Lunchtime talks are presented by a wide range of speakers offering their professional expertise and experiences. Some talks are focussed on supporting career ready skills such as CV building and student finance.
All students take part in ‘World of Work Thursday’, which is a weekly form time activity that helps to broaden students’ career aspirations.
A biennial “Futures Fair” hosted by the school is an event which offers students insight and advice into a wide range of career paths and professions. This is also an opportunity to learn about competitive apprenticeship and school leaver programmes. Students also have the opportunity to attend UCAS Discovery Days and similar events that allows them to explore future educational and career paths by connecting with universities, colleges, employers, and apprenticeship providers. Attendees can attend expert talks, get personalized advice, discover a range of options, and ask questions to help them make informed decisions about their next steps.
Pupil voice plays a key role in evaluation of provision. This feedback helps tailor future events and year group specific talks. We also welcome parental feedback and we encourage discussion around future planning at home.
