Pastoral support, building confidence and resilience

We foster an environment where she can grow in confidence and feel supported in her academic journey, with strong pastoral systems that guide her toward the resources and advice she needs for life beyond EHS. We encourage her to explore and develop her talents in the broadest sense, placing great emphasis on nurturing self-esteem, resilience, and independence.

We recognise that every pupil’s needs are unique and we put robust academic and pastoral systems in place to support her throughout her time with us. Open, constructive communication with home sits at the heart of our approach, helping us work in genuine partnership with families. Our strong sense of community further enhances this support, with initiatives such as Sixth Form students mentoring younger pupils and opportunities for student voice through the School Council.

We place great importance on supporting every child’s physical wellbeing. Our PE curriculum promotes active, healthy lifestyles and is complemented by a wide range of recreational clubs, activities, and competitive squads that encourage pupils to stay active and engaged. Alongside this, staff are trained in first aid, and we have dedicated full‑time first aid support available on-site each day to ensure pupils receive prompt and professional care whenever needed.

Guided, Nurtured, Empowered

Alongside our specialist subject teachers, every pupil is supported by a dedicated form tutor who gets to know her as an individual—celebrating her strengths, nurturing her interests, and guiding her academic and personal progress.

But pastoral care at our school goes far beyond the form tutor.

We offer a comprehensive and deeply supportive system that includes a Head of Lower School (Years 7 & 8), and Heads of Years 9, 10 and 11 who move up with their year groups to provide consistency, continuity and trusted relationships throughout their school journey. Each year team is further strengthened by Assistant Heads of Year, ensuring that no child is ever without someone to turn to.

For pupils who need more targeted emotional support, we have two trained counsellors available, as well as form mentors for our youngest pupils as they transition into secondary school life.

Our dedicated Wellbeing Hub, Pastoral Hub and Learning Hub provide safe, calm spaces where pupils can take time out, reflect, seek guidance, or meet with supportive staff and peers.

Through this rich network of pastoral support, we encourage every pupil to take ownership of her learning, feel confident in her achievements, and grow into a resilient, independent young person.
