An Introduction
The Pastoral System works in conjunction with all curriculum areas to ensure that a whole child perspective is maintained at all times. Edgbaston High School offers individually tailored education, and the Pastoral Team works to ensure that every pupil has opportunities for challenge, development and achievement.
Prep Pastoral Support
When pupils feel genuinely happy and fulfilled at school, they are better able to thrive—both academically and in their personal development. For this reason, pastoral care lies at the heart of our school community. Our staff are committed to knowing each pupil as an individual. By understanding their unique strengths, interests and areas for development, we are able to tailor support and learning experiences to help every child reach their full potential. We foster an environment in which pupils feel confident to share any concerns, enabling us to respond promptly, sensitively and effectively. Alongside academic progress, we place equal importance on pupils’ physical health and their mental and emotional wellbeing.

Senior School Pastoral Support
We recognise that every pupil’s needs are unique and we put robust academic and pastoral systems in place to support her throughout her time with us in Senior School. Open, constructive communication with home sits at the heart of our approach, helping us work in genuine partnership with families. Our strong sense of community further enhances this support, with initiatives such as Sixth Form students mentoring younger pupils and opportunities for student voice through the School Council.

Sixth Form Pastoral Support
During Sixth Form, our focus on pastoral care remains just as strong as in the earlier school years. Happiness and wellbeing are vital to academic success, and to developing the confidence and self-esteem that will help throughout life.
