Year 5 become Art Historians for the day
22 January 2016
Year 5’s visit to the Barber Institute was a resounding success again this year. The girls were able to develop their artistic appreciation and knowledge of a range of artists on show at the gallery. They also extended their understanding of the purpose of portraits and different painting styles.
The girls, teachers and parent helpers embraced the opportunity to practise their portrait drawing skills by attempting to recreate two of the magnificent portraits held at the Barber Institute – the finished results clearly showed that the girls had been paying attention to the workshop leader.
The girls will continue to develop their studies of portraits throughout the coming term. Many thanks to Mr Moylan and Mr Hewison for accompanying Year 5 on the trip.
