House Bake Off Goes Wild!
27 June 2025
Who knew the natural world could be so delicious?
This year’s House Bake Off challenged girls to unleash their inner Attenborough with a Natural World theme, just one of many motivating House events we enjoy each year. With every bake judged on creativity, taste and presentation, the competition was fierce.
Year 9 got us started, with Isabel and Raya (St. Francis) taking the first win for their chocolate tray bake "tree", featuring a coffee buttercream trunk and a canopy representing the four seasons.
Year 8 followed with a “tweet as sugar” bird-themed round. Emily and Anaya (St. Francis) wowed judges with chocolate chip peacock cupcakes, complete with blue, yellow and green feather details.
Year 7 took on creepy crawlies. Mathilda, Elodie and Jemima (St. Francis again!) baked glittery vanilla and chocolate butterfly shortbreads that impressed with both flavour and flair.
Year 10 tackled water-inspired tray bakes. Ray and Hattie’s chocolate and vanilla sponge depicted a woodland river scene filled with forest creatures, and yes, it brought another win for St. Francis.
Year 12 delivered environmental showstoppers. This time, St. David stole the spotlight. Nethara and Yang’s no-bake vanilla cheesecakes, topped with bubble waffles and blueberries, celebrated the vital role of bees in our ecosystem.
Even staff got involved, with each member representing their House. On Monday, Miss O’Brien and Miss Roberts (St. Francis) baked a chocolate fudge vegetable patch, complete with icing carrots, cabbages and a prickle of hedgehogs, and they took home the win.
A huge well done to all our bakers! The judges had a tough time choosing winners each day, and with every event adding to the final House’s individual tallies, we’re all waiting to see which House will come out on top...
