One of the fantastic advantages of our location right in the heart of leafy Edgbaston in Birmingham is that we are well-placed for the plethora of inspirational, world-class opportunities on our doorstep. This week was no exception, when our Year Five girls visited Edgbaston Cricket stadium to enjoy an incredible women’s cricket match. It highlighted to our girls what can be achieved through teamwork, dedication and passion.
Finding your passion can ignite a spark, fuel your determination and resilience and bring happiness, even in the face of challenge. Through a broad and balanced curriculum and a wide range of co-curricular opportunities, we aim to help our girls find their unique passion. For some, this will be Science – the chance to make discoveries, understand how and why things work, meticulously measuring and testing. For others it will be the Performing arts – dance, drama or music. For many it will be sport – whether it be in the swimming pool, on the netball court, athletics track or hockey pitch.
We are a fearlessly female independent school, offering a unique environment within which our girls can thrive. Speaking with Mrs Macro this week, we discussed the paths that many of our EHS girls will take as they move on from the Sixth Form and into adulthood. What Mrs Macro is most proud of is the wonderful array of destinations EHS leavers go on to when they leave us at the end of Year 13. We have girls going to Cambridge to study Medicine, Classics at Durham and Film & Television in Bristol whilst others undertake Degree Apprenticeships at the Royal Opera House or study Architecture at UCL.
As my wonderful staff continue to immerse pupils in a plethora of engaging and unique activities, I know our girls will make the most of the final weeks of term. The smiles on their faces as they share tales of their adventures (in a Mathematics lesson) or creativity (with their entrepreneur projects) or herb bouquets (from the allotment) is such a joy to see. Each girl is supported and empowered to be the best possible version of themselves and of that I am extremely proud.
Have a super weekend!
