Linguistic Success for Prep Girls

On Wednesday, five girls from Prep, Ayana A, Inaayah C, Inaya I, Gurbani and Hitha, took part in the Live National Final of the Junior Language Challenge. After tackling Portuguese and French, they dedicated their time to learning Alsatian (the regional language spoken in Alsace, France). Essentially it is a mix of French and German, but closer to German.
After qualifying within the top 30 places in the country via a Kahoot challenge, the girls competed against other schools in the country via Zoom and Kahoot. Hitha was in India, due to a family emergency, so she joined us from there instead! That’s commitment!
The challenge started with a warm-up round and the girls were in strong spirits. After a hard-fought 18-question battle, Gurbani finished in second position and will receive £100 in Amazon vouchers as well as a year’s access to every language on UTalk language games (157 in total). Inayaah C finished in fourth and the remainder mainly within the top ten. This is such an amazing achievement.
We are all very proud of the girls who represented EHS Prep impeccably. As they say in Alsatian, ‘Glickwinsch!’ (Congratulations!).
