Year 7 Map Masters Take on the Malvern Hills!

Senior School

20 June 2025

Year 7 geographers braved all the elements this week as they took to the top of Jubilee Hill to practise their map skills in real life. Using OS maps to navigate, students tackled six-figure grid references, decoded map symbols, and identified features they could spot from their excellent high-up viewpoint.

After a well-earned lunch (and an essential ice cream) at Sally’s Café, the group continued up British Camp to investigate human impacts and land use conflicts in the area.

Despite Thursday’s downpour forcing a soaked retreat for 7ML and 7R, their resilience shone through, they pushed on until the very last minute, continuing their learning back at school. By contrast, Friday gave 7J and 7O the sunshine treatment, rounding off a week of hands-on geography with clear skies and big smiles.
