EHS Prep Pupil Selected for BBC Proms Performance

Preparatory

06 June 2025

We are thrilled to share some exciting news from our Prep School: one of our talented pupils, Jashvita, has been selected to take part in a prestigious BBC Proms project at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

This incredible opportunity came through Jashvita’s involvement with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), where her passion for singing was first spotted. Out of all the young musicians associated with the CBSO, just 50 children have been invited to perform at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 11 August, and we are incredibly proud that Jashvita is one of them.

The performance will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, offering Jashvita her first national platform. “I am excited because this is the first time I’ve been on live radio,” she shared, beaming with anticipation.

Jashvita’s singing journey began only a year ago, but her progress has been remarkable. She is currently preparing for her Grade 4 vocal music exam and continues to approach her craft with dedication and enthusiasm.

Her mum explained how EHS has played an important role in her development as a young vocalist. “The one-to-one vocal lessons at school have helped Jashvita build both her skills and confidence. Her teacher, Mrs Lizzy Cragg, has been a wonderful mentor and was the one who introduced her to the CBSO opportunity. That opened the door to so much more.”

In addition to her lessons, Jashvita has taken part in school choirs and tea-time concerts, giving her the chance to perform regularly in a supportive environment. “These performances have helped her grow more expressive and confident,” her mum added.

To prepare for her BBC Proms debut, Jashvita will attend rehearsals in Birmingham, Cardiff and London. With such a full schedule ahead, she is focusing on staying calm, prepared, and ready to enjoy every moment of this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

We can’t wait to hear her sing and will be tuning in proudly as she takes the stage at one of the most iconic music venues in the world.
