STEM subjects prove popular in Prep
29 January 2016
The girls in the Prep School always enjoy studying the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
This week saw skills being developed in Reception with pattern making and weighing and measuring being on the curriculum.
In Year 2 our scientists have been investigating the properties of materials. In groups they sorted a wide selection of materials into transparent, translucent and opaque. They discussed why some materials were translucent (such as in bathroom windows), transparent (car windscreens) and opaque (clothing). The girls are now looking forward to consolidating their learning with a trip next half term to the ThinkTank!
In Science Year 3 girls have been learning about forces and how they create movement. They used a car catapult experiment to see if a car would move further when the force was increased. Each group recorded their results and created a Pic Collage showing the experiment taking place.
