Discovering Rome's greatest orator
20 January 2017
On Thursday 19 January, three EHS students embarked on a short journey to the University of Birmingham.
We had been privileged enough to be able to attend a lecture on Cicero by Dr Henriette van der Blom, organised by the Birmingham and Midlands Classical Association (BMCA). The lecture was enlightening and, despite being at an undergraduate standard, we were still able to engage with the topic. We learnt about Cicero's speeches and oratory skills, and also about many other influential orators in the Roman Republic.
It was enjoyable to see a new aspect of Roman Oratory beyond the classroom.
