Further Mathematics
If you are curious about topics such as the square roots of negative numbers, exploring how transformations of shapes can be described more precisely using mathematics, or deepening your understanding of the subject as a whole, then A-Level Further Mathematics is an excellent choice.
If you are curious about topics such as the square roots of negative numbers, exploring how transformations of shapes can be described more precisely using mathematics, or deepening your understanding of the subject as a whole, then A-Level Further Mathematics is an excellent choice.
To study this subject, we recommend you have a Grade 8 in GCSE Mathematics to ensure you can succeed in A-level Further Maths.
Further Mathematics is only available to students who are also studying A-level Mathematics. It is typically studied as a full A-Level course; however, we also support students who wish to complete the AS qualification upon request.
What will you learn?
On the A-Level Further Mathematics course, you will extend and deepen your mathematical knowledge beyond A-Level Mathematics. You will study advanced topics such as complex numbers, matrices and further calculus, developing strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Alongside the core content, you will explore optional modules in Mechanics and Decision Mathematics, applying mathematical techniques to model physical systems and to solve problems involving algorithms, networks and optimisation.
