We ended the Autumn Term with our celebration assembly which included the presentation of certificates of achievement, individual awards and several House trophies. Johnson House was announced as the winner of both the Prep Inter-House General Knowledge Quiz and House Point Cup. Well done to all the Johnson House girls!
In our first assembly of this new term we welcomed a number of new girls and Miss Nelsey who joins us as a Year 6 teacher. We hope they will all enjoy life at EHS. We also thought carefully about our goals and resolutions for the new year ahead.
Our younger pupils in Years 1 and 2 have all enjoyed trips to the theatre. Year 1 went on a ‘Bear Hunt’ at the Town Hall and Year 2 were delighted to watch an updated version of Cinderella.
Saturday brought our first Open Day of the year and Year 6 girls once again showed themselves to be excellent ambassadors for Prep as they acted as guides. We received many complementary comments from the prospective parents on the confident presentations given by the girls.
This week Year 5 girls have extended their studies on portraiture with a visit to the Barber Institute. We are looking forward to seeing the development of their work in class based on the interactive studies at the gallery.
Our Prep swim squad achieved a win in the swimming gala held against Blue Coat on Tuesday evening. Well done to all our swimmers. It is hoped this success will inspire our Reception girls who are looking forward to their first swimming lesson at EHS this week.
The Prep School is full of winter themed art work which now seems very appropriate with the sudden change in temperature. A selection of some of the work created by our youngest artists in Westbourne can be seen below.
We wish our Year 6 girls well for the entrance examination to Senior School on Saturday and look forward to welcoming Year 1 parents to the Open House session on Thursday.
