The laboratories at EHS are extremely well resourced and practical work is at the heart of our Science curriculum. We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and dynamic Science Technician to support our students and staff in the Chemistry department.

This is an exciting opportunity, especially for a Science graduate, to join a busy, thriving Science department. You would be working as part of our 3-strong technician team who support practical work across key stage 3-5 in Biology, Physics and Chemistry. Laboratory experience is essential. Experience of working within a school or college environment would be beneficial but is not essential as full safeguarding training will be provided as part of your induction.

Every day will be different, but there will also be the element of routine. The successful candidate will be responsible for co-ordinating and organising practical resources and equipment to support the teachers in the Chemistry department. They will need a sound understanding of health and safety procedures. They will be expected to work collaboratively and positively with two other science technicians, as well as teaching staff across the Science department.

Salary is £24,785 plus a generous package of benefits & pension

This is a full-time contract, starting in late August 2026 (ie just ahead of the new academic term)

Applications, addressed to Julia Fones (Head of Chemistry), should include the completed school application form and a covering letter of not more than 2 pages summarising your suitability for the role as outlined in the information pack.

Please submit these to the HR & Compliance Officer, Ms Corinna Gregory: recruitment@edgbastonhigh.co.uk

Interviews will take place at Edgbaston High School for Girls on Monday 22nd June and applicants must be available on this date. Successful candidates will be invited to a formal interview and will be given a practical, lab-based task; there will also be an opportunity to tour the School on the day.

At interview applicants must provide original documents to confirm their identity and right to work in the UK. The documentation required by applicants is listed in the Recruitment, Selection and Disclosure Policy

Original certificates/licences will be required as proof of qualification. All other attributes will be assessed using the contents of the application form, at interview and with the professional references.

The closing date for applications is 9am on Friday 12th June 2026.
