Students, staff and families gathered for a wonderful evening of music at our recent Senior Performing Arts Spotlight, showcasing the remarkable talent, dedication and creativity of our senior performers. The event provided a fantastic opportunity for students to share the results of their hard work and musical development in front of a warm and supportive audience.
The programme featured an impressive range of vocal and instrumental performances. Vocalists delivered memorable interpretations of Reflection, performed by Isabelle Brennan, One Day I’ll Fly Away by Raya Watkinson, I’ll Close My Eyes by Cat Swanborough, and Someone to Watch Over Me by Ava Rajp.
Instrumental performances demonstrated both technical skill and expressive musicianship. Pianists Grace Devall, Fei Lockett-Yeung, Mithila Deshpande, Maddy Sykes and Eleanor Wongso captivated the audience with performances including On The Sunny Side of the Street, Evening on the River Nile, The Singing Swan, Where the Blackcap Sings and Confessions in the Moonlight.
The evening also highlighted the value of ensemble music-making, with Jocelyn Mukwakwami, Eliza, Anabel and Grace performing Siesta in Seville for flute and cello. Solo instrumental contributions were also given by violinist Jessica Hung and flautist Jocelyn Mukwakwami, further demonstrating the breadth of talent within the department.
The atmosphere throughout the evening was one of celebration and encouragement, with performers displaying confidence, musicality and a genuine enjoyment of sharing their talents. Events such as the Senior Performing Arts Spotlight play a vital role in nurturing performance skills, building confidence and inspiring younger musicians to pursue their own musical journeys.
A huge congratulations to all those who performed and sincere thanks to our visiting music teachers, accompanists, staff and families for their continued support. The evening was a fitting showcase of the exceptional musical opportunities available within our school community and a reminder of the outstanding talent our students possess.
