This year, our Girls with Goals programme is evolving as girls enter the exciting and important challenge of Year 10. Building on the foundations established in previous years, the programme will now focus on developing one of the most powerful skills for success in life: Agency.

At the heart of the launch assembly was a simple but powerful question:

Who decides how you spend the 86,400 seconds you are given every day?
The answer is simple: you do.

As our girls begin their GCSE journey, we want them to recognise that while they cannot control every lesson, every assessment, or every challenge they face, they can control how they respond. They can choose how they prepare, how they approach setbacks, how they organise their time, and how they treat the people around them. These everyday decisions become the building blocks of future success.

This year's programme introduces girls to three key concepts:

Agency
The understanding that they have the power to influence and shape their own journey through the choices they make every day.

Responsibility
The recognition that growth comes when we take ownership of our actions, reflect honestly, and learn from experience.

Momentum
The idea that small, consistent actions accumulate over time, creating progress and opening doors to future opportunities.

To help girls engage with these ideas and to help them reach their aspirations, hopes and dreams from Year 9, Girls with Goals has been reimagined through an investment theme. Girls are encouraged to view themselves as their most important long-term project and to think of their daily choices as investments in their future selves.

Every completed piece of work, every act of perseverance, every positive habit, and every moment of resilience becomes an investment that can generate future rewards.

As part of this new approach, every Year 10 has opened their very own Girls with Goals Investment Account and made the following pledge: "Today I open my Girls with Goals Investment Account. I understand that every day I receive a new deposit of opportunity, and that every choice I make is an investment in my future."

Through weekly reflection activities, girls will build their own Investment Portfolio, encouraging them to develop self-awareness, track progress, celebrate successes, and identify opportunities for growth.

The programme also introduces a new recognition system. Everyone has received a Starter Investment Card, which can be upgraded throughout the year as they demonstrate commitment to the programme and embody the values of agency, responsibility, and momentum. Higher-level cards will unlock additional opportunities, privileges, and experiences designed to reward sustained investment in personal development.

Girls with Goals has always been about helping young women become confident, ambitious, and purposeful. As Year 10 begins, this next chapter will challenge girls to think differently about their choices, recognise the influence they have over their own futures, and understand that success is rarely built overnight. Instead, it is created through the small, consistent investments they make every single day.

After all, every day begins with a fresh deposit of 86,400 seconds. The question is: how will they choose to invest them?
