The Girls School Association (GSA) organised a conference for sportswomen studying GCSE and A-Level PE. This exciting one-day event has been designed to inspire and empower young women through sport, education, leadership and wellbeing.

Pupils had the opportunity to experience university life first hand and engage with current elite athletes and coaches, expert academics and high-performance practitioners from across the sports industry. The conference aims to showcase the many pathways available within sport, both on and off the field, while encouraging confidence, ambition and participation among female students

Our EHS pupils experienced a Performance Session; a sports masterclass led by a high-performance coach in one of the following sports: Netball, football, rugby, athletics, hockey, badminton or tennis.

They also enjoyed a Lecture Session; sport education featuring inspiring stories, expert sport scientists and world class academics on one of the following topics:

  • "Life as a Student Athlete" - Discover what it’s really like to balance studying, training, and competing while living university life.
  • "Careers Beyond the Game" - Explore the many pathways into sport and discover how you can turn your passion into a future career.
  • "Changing the Game: The Research Behind Women in Sport" - Explore what really impacts women’s sport
  • "Sport Science through the Female Athlete Lens" - Discover how sport science supports female athletes’ performance, health, and wellbeing, exploring key areas like nutrition, psychology, strength & conditioning, and physiology.
  • "The Future of Sport Technology (DigiLabs Experience)" - Step into the future of sport with hands-on technology and discover how innovation is changing the game.

Finally they enjoyed a Recreational Session: Trying Something New; offering the chance to explore different activities in a fun and supportive environment in one of the following topics:

  • Strength & Conditioning Gym Experience
  • Para Sport Experience (Wheelchair Basketball, New Age Curling & Boccia)
  • Padel
  • 3v3 Basketball
  • University Sports Clubs & Societies (incl Dance)

The EHS students enjoyed and learnt so much from the day, supporting our ongoing commitment to girls' in sport.
