Places of Worship Trip Gives Pupils First Hand Experience of Faith & Tradition

The trip was part of their Religious Studies topic on Places of Worship and offered a valuable opportunity to experience different faiths and traditions first-hand.

The day began at the Mandir, where students explored beautifully decorated shrines, each devoted to a different Hindu deity. The temple's architecture, with its detailed carvings and vibrant colours, made a strong impression. At the end of their visit, they observed a Puja ceremony, which gave them a deeper understanding of Hindu worship.

Next, the group visited the Church. Students were warmly welcomed by our guides, who showed us around the main worship area - all ready to be used by the weekly mums and toddler group! We were then taken round the various different rooms showings the variety of activities ran both for the church community and those in the local community.

After a short break back at school for lunch, the group made their final visit of the day to a local Synagogue. Their guide, Geoff, shared stories about the Synagogue’s history and his personal connection to the Jewish community. He led the students through the worship area and showed them the Torah scrolls, which were impressively large and beautifully presented.

The trip provided a unique insight into three world religions and their places of worship. It gave students a chance to deepen their understanding of cultural and religious diversity within their community.
