This half term, our Year 7 pupils put down their usual textbooks and took part in a special Readathon in support of Edward’s Trust.
Over the summer, the students had been set the challenge of completing a sponsored read, encouraging them to discover new books while raising money for a very worthwhile local charity. All proceeds from their sponsorship will be donated to Edward’s Trust.
To celebrate their reading achievements, the girls worked in teams and took part in an exciting quiz, testing both their general knowledge and their teamwork. Competition was fierce and, after a closely fought contest, the quiz ended in a tie between two brilliantly named teams – The Pizzass Pedros and The Carrots!
The Readathon was a wonderful opportunity for Year 7 to celebrate reading, work together and raise money for an important cause. To continue the theme of taking some time to relax and unwind, students were also encouraged to enter a mindfulness colouring competition over the weekend.
Well done to all of Year 7 for embracing the challenge so enthusiastically, and thank you to everyone who sponsored them and helped to support Edward’s Trust.
