Sixty-two Year 10 students travelled to Paris before half term to explore France’s vibrant capital city, enjoy the excitement of Disneyland, and, of course, deepen their understanding of Maths.
After a long but sunny coach journey, we arrived in Paris on Wednesday evening, ready for an exciting few days ahead. On Thursday, we visited the Cité des Sciences, where students explored the Mathematics exhibition and discovered how mathematical ideas are applied in the real world. We then spent time in the lively Latin Quarter before taking in the sights of Paris on a boat cruise along the River Seine, enjoying some of the city's most famous landmarks from a unique perspective.
Friday and Saturday were spent at Disneyland, where students not only enjoyed the attractions but also considered the Mathematics behind rollercoasters and theme park design. From speed and forces to angles and engineering, there were plenty of opportunities to see Maths in action while having fun.
Blessed with sunshine throughout the trip, we returned home on Sunday tired but happy, with many wonderful memories of an excellent trip and a greater appreciation of how Maths can be found in the world around us.
