This weekend, our U16 Netball team competed at the National Schools Finals in Sheffield, where history was made for EHS Netball.
Starting their journey among more than 3,000 schools across England, this exceptional squad finished an incredible 13th in the country, a testament to their determination, talent and resilience.
Despite a challenging lead-up with injuries, the team showed remarkable unity and a true squad-first mentality. Players from Years 8, 9, and 10 stepped up to support their Year 11 teammates, demonstrating the depth and spirit of the group. Across nine high-intensity matches, many of which were decided by the narrowest of margins, the team remained composed under pressure, combining sharp attacking play with tenacious defence to secure crucial moments.
Several games went goal-for-goal, with three matches lost by just a single goal, highlighting how closely matched they were with the very best in the country. Their resilience, trust in one another, and ability to maintain high standards throughout were a real credit to the team and our PE department.
This competition also marks the end of a special journey for many of these players. From competing at the U14 Nationals, to becoming U15 Sisters in Sport Champions, and now achieving this historic U16 result, their progression has been nothing short of inspiring. Fittingly, the squad also included three sets of sisters - a unique reflection of the strong bonds and sense of family within the team.
It goes without saying that we are immensely proud of each player, all of whom deserve huge congratulations for everything they have achieved.
