The event brought together students from across the senior school, each performing to an exceptionally high standard and demonstrating not only technical accomplishment, but also musical maturity, confidence and expressive understanding.
We were delighted to welcome Sarah Gullick as adjudicator. Her insightful and encouraging feedback reflected both the quality and depth of performances across the evening, and was greatly appreciated by students and staff alike.
The breadth and variety of the programme were particularly striking, with performances spanning voice, piano, strings, woodwind and guitar. Each contribution added to an evening rich in musical contrast and character, while the consistently high level of preparation made the adjudication process a considerable challenge. From the youngest performers to those in the Sixth Form, students displayed a clear sense of commitment and pride in their music-making.
Following careful deliberation, prizes were awarded to:
- Jessica H (Piano, Year 7, Patrick)
- Georgie B (Voice, Year 8, Patrick)
- Kritika S (Guitar, Year 9, Patrick)
- Cici B (Flute, Years 10 & 11, Andrew)
- Samantha K (Piano, David) and Samara K (Violin, David) - Joint Sixth Form winners
A special mention must go to Grace D (Piano, Year 9, Francis), who was awarded Overall Senior Musician of the Year.
Her performance stood out for its musical insight, technical assurance and expressive depth, marking her as a truly deserving winner in what was an exceptionally strong field.
Beyond the individual achievements, the evening was notable for its strong sense of community and shared purpose. Students supported one another with warmth and encouragement, creating an atmosphere that was both celebratory and inspiring. The event also served as a powerful reminder of the central role that House music continues to play within the life of the school, bringing students together through a shared commitment to excellence.
Our sincere thanks go to the Music Department for their dedication, organisation and continued commitment to maintaining such high standards; to Ms Feng for her outstanding work as accompanist throughout the evening; and to our Visiting Music Teachers, whose expertise and careful preparation of students were evident in every performance.
This year’s competition stands as a defining moment in our 150th year, a celebration not only of individual talent, but of a thriving musical culture that continues to inspire and unite the school community.
