Spring sunshine has helped highlight opportunities galore this week! Leading a Prep School is such a privilege and I am keenly aware of the huge impact the environment and opportunities we provide to our girls have not only on our pupils but also their families.

We know that the little things can be hugely impactful on helping to ensure the first steps into education are positive and happy ones.

We talk a lot about wanting to support our girls to become resilient young women but this does not mean they should be void of emotion. There will be times when things are tough and curling up in a ball in floods of tears is the most appropriate course of action. But it is how we support our girls to react to challenges that is key; the ability to reset, recharge and move forwards. We know that mistakes help to grow our brains. But for girls in particular, there is a desire to pursue perfection. To ensure that everything written down is correct. To ensure mistakes are not highlighted.

This is where providing opportunities outside of the classroom to help develop these skills is so key. This week we have provided a plethora of sporting opportunities for our girls. As i write, our Prep girls are making final preparations for the hotly anticipated Cross-Country running competition. Yesterday, our Swim Squad girls participated in a fantastic Swimming Gala against Balsall Common, demonstrating the incredible progress they have made this year and their unique ability to stay supremely calm when under pressure. Our Year Five & Six girls have continued to enjoy their Netball League and every child from Reception to Year Two has swum a full length of the pool!

The early Spring sunshine gave Reception girls the chance to take a walk to the school allotment. They explored the apple orchard, pond and raised beds and produced some super writing and illustrations to accompany their visit.

With only a couple of weeks left of the Spring Term, I know our girls will continue to be stretched and challenged by my dedicated and caring staff and to embrace every opportunity with fervor and joy. I know it is a privilege to lead a Prep School, but to lead EHS Prep is truly joyful.

Wishing you a restful weekend.
