During the last week of term, our fabulous cast of The Red Shoes took to the stage and delivered four truly memorable performances.

From the moment the curtain rose, audiences were transported into a world inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s haunting fairytale, brought vividly to life in this imaginative new retelling by Nancy Harris.

This adaptation offered far more than a traditional fairytale. While it retained the magic and wonder of Andersen’s original story, it also explored its darker themes with confidence and creativity. Our students embraced the emotional depth of the piece, delving into ambition, temptation and consequence, while skillfully balancing these powerful moments with humour and energy. The result was a performance that was both thought-provoking and wonderfully entertaining.

Each character was brought to life with enthusiasm, individuality and flair. The cast demonstrated impressive comic timing, strong stage presence and a clear commitment to their roles. Whether delivering sharp one-liners, performing dramatic monologues, or moving together in powerful ensemble scenes, the students captivated the audience throughout. Their confidence and teamwork shone particularly brightly in the larger group moments, where the strength of the ensemble was clear for all to see.

All the girls have worked incredibly hard over the last term and a half, showing remarkable commitment, resilience and a genuine passion for theatre. Learning lines, developing characters, rehearsing after long school days and supporting one another every step of the way is no small achievement. They should feel immensely proud of everything they have accomplished.

A huge thank you must also go to all the students involved for their dedication and professionalism, and to the amazing staff who supported the production at every stage. From directing and rehearsing, to organising costumes, managing backstage and ensuring everything ran seamlessly, their guidance and encouragement made these performances possible.

The Red Shoes has been a true celebration of creativity, collaboration and courage, a shining example of what can be achieved through hard work, determination and teamwork. Bravo to everyone involved on a truly fantastic production! 🎭
