Surrounded by rocks, fossils and minerals, pupils had the opportunity to explore one of the UK’s most outstanding geological collections. The museum’s fascinating exhibits and interactive displays brought the ancient world vividly to life.
During the visit, pupils took part in a museum scavenger hunt, eagerly exploring the galleries as they searched for key discoveries. A particular highlight was meeting Rory the Allosaurus fossil and even holding a real megalodon tooth, learning more about how these remarkable prehistoric creatures once lived.
The day also included an engaging workshop focused on earthquakes and volcanoes, linking directly to this term’s geography studies. Pupils handled real volcanic rocks, including ash, and worked collaboratively to design and build a tower capable of withstanding an earthquake. This hands-on experience helped them develop a deeper understanding of real-life Earth processes in a practical and memorable way.
Throughout the trip, the children demonstrated great curiosity, enthusiasm and teamwork, making the experience both highly informative and thoroughly enjoyable.
