150 Years Young: A School Birthday Spectacular

Over the past two terms, our community has been marking this extraordinary milestone with a series of special celebrations. From a world record attempt and a birthday tea party, to a values-themed Bake Off inspired by 150 years of EHS, there has been no shortage of memorable moments - alongside many more taking place behind the scenes.

To mark our actual birthday, the whole school came together for a very special assembly. Hosted by our Headmistress, it was a joyful and meaningful celebration of our values and everything that makes EHS, well, EHS.

From our youngest pupils aged two to our Sixth Form students, the entire school community gathered in one space - a powerful reminder of the shared journey that connects every stage of an EHS education. The assembly featured a range of performances, the sharing of birthday cake, and a rousing rendition of the school song, complete with a brand-new verse written especially for our 150th year. The celebration ended in true birthday style, with a confetti cannon adding a final flourish to the festivities.

For hundred and fifty years we stand,
Our female voices rising;
In thought and deed with courage firm
No fear nor doubt disguising.
Through learning’s light and purpose clear,
Our future shaped together;
Fearlessly we meet the world,
Strong now and strong forever.

More than a celebration, the assembly was a reflection of who we are. For 150 years, EHS has been rooted in tradition while continually delivering a powerful, modern and forward-thinking education. Our history is something we are proud of, but it is our constant evolution - and our commitment to empowering girls to be confident, courageous and ambitious - that defines us. The Fearlessly Female spirit that runs through our school today is built on generations of girls who have dared to think differently, aim high and shape their own futures.

As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we do so with gratitude for the past and excitement for what lies ahead. 150 years on, Edgbaston High School continues to look forward with purpose, shaping Futures without Limits for the generations to come.
