An Amazing Achievement
Thanks to the kindness and enthusiasm shown across our school community, we raised a total of £3,265 for charity this Autumn Term. Here's how we did it...
Year 7 Kick-Starts the Year with the Annual Readathon
We began our 2025 fundraising efforts with our much-loved Year 7 Readathon in support of Edward’s Trust. This incredible local charity provides free, specialist bereavement support for parents, children and young people, offering counselling, wellbeing therapies and peer support to help families navigate some of life’s most difficult moments.
Edward’s Trust receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generosity of supporters, something our school community consistently provides. Thanks to the fantastic efforts of our Year 7 pupils, we proudly donated £915.
Raising a Cup for Macmillan Cancer Support
In October, we joined thousands nationwide in supporting the Macmillan Coffee Morning campaign. Macmillan offers vital information, guidance, and emotional support to anyone affected by cancer and to their families. As Macmillan is a charity close to many hearts in our school community, we hosted a breakfast-themed fundraising event for students. The waffles, pastries, and hot drinks proved extremely popular, helping us raise an amazing £967. We hope to make this a tradition and repeat the event next year.

Supporting Teenage Cancer Trust at the Sixth Form Social
We also successfully raised £55 for the Teenage Cancer Trust at the recent Sixth Form Social. By selling popcorn and candyfloss throughout the evening, students helped create a fun and lively atmosphere while supporting a charity that makes a real difference in the lives of young people.
A Sea of Pink for Breast Cancer Now
To end the first half term, pupils and staff filled the school with bright shades of pink for Wear It Pink Day, supporting Breast Cancer Now. This annual event raises both awareness and vital funds for breast cancer research and for those affected by the disease. Thanks to the community’s wonderful energy and generosity, we raised £324 for Breast Cancer Now.
A Shoe Drive with Real Impact
Mrs Hewison added an exciting challenge to her Chicago Marathon preparations by collecting 150 pairs of shoes to donate to a foundation we visited during the 2024 sports tour to South Africa. The school enthusiastically rose to the challenge and completely surpassed the target! A special congratulations goes to Year 8, who collected the most shoes and earned themselves a much-deserved non-uniform day.

Supporting Birmingham City Mission’s Christmas Toy Link Project
Every Christmas, Birmingham City Mission provides thoughtfully wrapped gifts to around 3,000 children across the city who might otherwise go without. Throughout November and December, volunteers work tirelessly to wrap and prepare the parcels, each including a hand-written Christmas card.
This year, our whole-school appeal focused on collecting gifts for teenagers. During the first week, a small group of Year 9 students had the wonderful opportunity to visit Birmingham City Mission, where they helped volunteers wrap presents and write cards for families in need. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated and supported this meaningful project.

Children in Need Talent Show: A Spotlight on EHS Talent
On 14 November, excitement filled the school as the annual Children in Need Talent Show transformed the Octagon once again. From singers and dancers to musicians, the afternoon was a joyful celebration of courage, creativity, and school spirit. Thanks to the incredible performances and the enthusiasm of everyone involved, performers, judges, organisers, and supporters, we raised £652 for Children in Need. It was a fantastic event and a brilliant celebration of the talent within our school community.

Supporting the Poppy Appeal
In support of the Poppy Appeal, we sold poppies and a selection of themed stationery items. Thanks to the generosity of our students and staff, we were able to donate a meaningful £52 to the Royal British Legion.
Spreading Festive Cheer and Supporting Great Causes
Our school community got into the festive spirit this Christmas! Mrs. Coley led a wonderful wreath-making event for staff, showcasing their creative talents and raising £180 for Pancreatic Cancer Research. Meanwhile, our annual Carol Service collection brought in £120 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, helping to support children and families over the holidays.

We’re so proud of everyone who took part and helped make a difference this festive season!
A huge thank you to everyone for your generosity and community spirit! Your support continues to make a real difference, helping provide vital care and support for people in need. Every donation, no matter the size, counts and we’re truly grateful to all who donated and encouraged our fundraising efforts. Together, we’re making a positive impact!
