A warm welcome back to the new academic year and autumn term from all of us at Edgbaston High School. It has been a fantastic first few days on campus, with a palpable sense of energy and excitement as pupils and staff have settled back into school life.
We are delighted to have welcomed new pupils across the school, with particularly large cohorts joining Reception and Year 7. Their enthusiasm has added to the positive start to term, and it has been wonderful to see new friendships forming already.
This year marks a special milestone in the history of EHS. Alongside the launch of our new website and school video, we are proud to share our 150th year celebrations, centred on our ethos of Fearlessly Female. In Prep, pupils are already making the most of our newly developed Reception outdoor area, a dedicated space designed to spark exploration, creativity and curiosity from the very first days of their EHS journey.
Our 150th birthday celebrations began in July with a spirited world record attempt, see video here, and plans are in full swing for an inspiring programme of events across the year. These occasions will not only celebrate our rich history but also look ahead to a future shaped by the values that guide us: leading with integrity, learning with passion and living with courage.
Already, in just the first week, we have seen these values brought to life by our pupils — in classrooms, on the sports field, and in the way they embrace new challenges. This academic year promises to be one of both celebration and achievement, and we look forward to sharing it with the entire EHS community.
At the heart of it all is a simple truth: education is not just about preparing for the future, but about making a difference today.
