As we come to the end of the penultimate week of term, the variety of engaging and ambitious curriculum learning taking place across the school has continued.
Staff are keen to make the most of the remaining time with their forms and the standard of academic work across the school has been exceptional. In Nursery, the girls have been taking flight, exploring around the world travel via 'EHS airways'. For our youngest girls, developing their oracy is key and I have been delighted by the language acquisition of our two and three year olds this year. Ensuring learning is relevant and tangible can be hugely impactful and the presence of an, almost lifesize plane, 'EHS Airways' certainly brought the girls learning to life this week.
For our Year Six girls, who have only a matter of days left with us in the Prep School, their 'Dragons Den' project showcase has been a highlight this week, with incredible creativity and innovation on display. The girls had worked positively together in teams, each assigned different roles - from Financial Director to Head of Communications, Product Designer and Marketing Director, each pupil had an important part to play. The girls created prototypes and advertising campaigns, pitching their ideas to the dragons in the hope of securing financial investment in return for a share of the company. The ideas were innovative and creative and all unique. As I listened to the varied pitches and asked questions, I felt a huge sense of pride. These girls are ready for the next stage of their educational journey; they are brave and confident individuals, proud of their accomplishments but with a strong moral compass.
At the time of writing, we are excitedly preparing for the annual Prep Sports Day. The festival flags are in position, the gazebos are up, the tracks are marked, the long jump pitch has been prepared. The girls are ready, dressed in their coloured house t-shirts and there is a tangible air of excitement and healthy competition. For us, Sports Day will be a wonderful community event, with a picnic lunch, strawberries and cream and a chance for the girls to compete against one another on the athletics track. The weather is almost perfect and school is ready for another day of sun and memory making.
Wishing you a relaxing weekend.
