Graduate Fashion Week is the world's largest showcase of BA fashion talent, organised annually by the Graduate Fashion Foundation. Held in London, it features runway shows, university exhibitions, industry masterclasses, and networking events for over 3,000 graduating students.
The day began with an early meet‑up at 7:50am before travelling down to London’s Truman Brewery. The girls started by exploring the Graduate Fashion Week exhibition, visiting a wide range of university stands to learn more about the courses on offer, engage with creative work, and speak directly with tutors and graduates.
Students also had the chance to experiment with VR at the CLO3D stand, watch screenings in the cinema space, and attend interactive talks, including one from the Laurel Tulasi Palmer, who has followed her dreams and established her own award‑winning fashion company.
The main events of the day included several catwalk shows, beginning with Winchester and the Jimmy Choo Fashion Academy, which showcased a blend of whimsical fashion and refined tailoring. Afterwards, the group headed to Spitalfields Market for lunch and some free time to explore the large vintage market housed within the Truman building. The afternoon continued with the University for the Creative Arts Epsom catwalk, an eclectic mix of boundary‑pushing designs.
After another opportunity to explore the exhibition and university stands, the group attended the Northumbria presentation, which opened with a celebration of their 70 years in fashion, featuring work from across the decades, including garments from students as far back as 1984. This was followed by an innovative digital catwalk and a showcase of current student collections.
There is nothing quite like the atmosphere of a fashion show; it is always a truly immersive experience. All the students had their favourites, and on the journey home they had time to reflect on an inspiring day filled with fashion, design, and valuable university insight.
