This year’s Glamp 7 trip to Wales was packed with adventure, challenge and plenty of unforgettable memories. Year 7's first task was to conquer Pen y Fan, the highest mountain in South Wales.
Battling strong Welsh winds, our Year 7 students showed impressive determination as they made their way to the summit. Reaching the top was a fantastic achievement and set the tone for the rest of the trip.
After settling into their cabins, students quickly adapted to the no-phone policy. Instead of screens, evenings were spent playing games, making new friendships, enjoying the swings and exploring the beautiful woodland surroundings. It was wonderful to see everyone embracing the opportunity to disconnect and make the most of the experience.
The next day brought one of the highlights of the trip, gorge scrambling in the Brecon Beacons. Wearing wetsuits and buoyancy aids, students scrambled over rocks, waded through rivers and bravely plunged into the icy water below. The valley was filled with screams, laughter and cheers as everyone encouraged one another through the challenges. The instructors were full of praise for the group's courage and positive attitude.
Of course, Wales stayed true to its reputation and treated us to plenty of rain and wind! As we stood pulling on damp wetsuits, our students continued to show resilience, humour and determination. Whether scrambling through rivers or tackling new obstacles, they approached every challenge with enthusiasm.
The final day was just as action-packed. Students threw themselves into a muddy assault course, climbed ropes and tested their aim in archery. By the end of the day, everyone was exhausted, but proud of what they had achieved.
Throughout the trip, our Year 7 students demonstrated teamwork, perseverance and a willingness to step outside their comfort zones. They supported one another, embraced every challenge and represented the school brilliantly.
As we boarded the coach home, tired but smiling, one question could be heard again and again:
"Where are we heading next year, Miss Jones-Owen?"
If that isn't a sign of a successful Glamp 7, we don't know what is!
