On a very sunny Saturday, EHS alumnae, known as the Laurels Association (formally OGA), thoroughly celebrated Edgbaston High School's 150th birthday by getting together for a Back To School Day Reunion. In attendance were pupils who attended EHS as far back as 1935, as well as those who have recently left and are currently studying at their University of choice.

The day began with registration and pastries, with the chance to view some of EHS' archives. Guests perused the material on display, with many of them identifying pictures of themselves and their former cohort friends. It was remarkable to see so many former students and staff recognise their classmates and recount stories of their time here at Edgbaston High School.

But the day was not just about reminiscing, as we took over 120 guests down memory lane by running an assembly led by Mrs Clare Macro (current Headmistress), Miss Elizabeth Mullenger (former Headmistress), and the current Laurels Chair, Caroline Sprackman. Mrs Macro and Miss Mullenger reminded us of the school's history and all it has achieved in its 150 years of pioneering education for girls, whilst Caroline Sprackman presented the progress the Laurels Association is making in connecting EHS alumnae. However, mischief ensued as we also relived some of the cheekiest memories of our attendees, awarding them a figurative detention in the way of a wooden spoon.

The assembly was packed with performances from current students, including a return of SIX: Teen Edition, as well as a special award dedicated to Anne Howarth, former student, staff, and at one point, acting Head of EHS. Anne was recognised for her long service to EHS, her commitment to the school, it's pupils and of course it's success.

After heading to the hatch to relive their yesteryear lunch times, the guests were invited to attend a Back To School lesson, hosted by former teachers Miss Anne Lacey (Biology) and Mr T (Chemistry), former student Beth Lycett (Dance) and current teacher Dr Amit Rajp (Debating). Fun was had all around as they visited their old classrooms and took a walk around the halls that played such a huge part of their youth.

There will never be enough time to soak in the joy of seeing EHS girls come together after all these years; from friendship, kindness and passion, to formidable careers, goals and accolades. These women are, and always have been, Fearlessly Female.

A full photo gallery of the event will be made available on Laurels Connect in due course.
