As we celebrate 150 years of inspiring girls’ education at EHS, we continue to be amazed by the exceptional quality of work produced by pupils of all ages.

As we celebrate 150 years of inspiring girls’ education at EHS, we continue to be amazed by the exceptional quality of work produced by pupils of all ages.

In honour of this milestone year, and in recognition of the talent, dedication, and creativity that have long defined our school, teachers are invited each term to nominate outstanding pieces of work for the Excellence Book.

This term, the standard has been as impressive as ever, with girls from every year group producing work of remarkable calibre across a wide range of subjects. Our warmest congratulations to the following students:

CLASSICS
Sukaina Mirza, Kritika Singh, Pariya Vaziri (Y9)
For an excellent projects on the Roman Empire.
Raya Watkinson (Y10)
For an excellent project on the Classical World – Raya performed a play to the class (monologue).
Isabelle Brennan, Emefa Dzotsi, Mariam Ghauri, Lauren Jackson, Sophia Miah, Kavya Modhvadia, Stella Ng, Malaika Rajput, Naomi Sze, Susanna Tomlinson, Lily Wang
For an excellent project on the Classical World.
D&T
George Baker (Y9)
George has demonstrated a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and thought within her design choices. Her annotation clearly outlines the purpose and functionality of each element, showing a strong understanding of both aesthetics and practicality. She has effectively justified material choices, considering factors such as comfort, durability, and cultural significance, which adds depth to the design rationale. Overall, she shows excellent consideration for the end user’s need, making it a strong and impressive submission.
Niamh Lester (Y9)
Niamh demonstrates strong creativity and clear reasoning behind her design choices. Her annotations highlight practical considerations such as comfort and durability showing a thoughtful approach to meeting her users needs. Overall, the piece is well-thought through and detailed, reflecting excellent problem-solving and adaptability in the design process.
ENGLISH
Hajrah Arzoo, Isla Batchelor, Sarah Gray, Imaan Hamd, Hattie Holdaway, Lottie Holloway, Angelique Kapur, Hazel Lam, Summer Okafor, Polly Paton, Safa Shakaib, Cheyenne Siu, Marissa Smith, Cierra Williams (Y11)
For presentations they gave on a series of non-fiction texts from their GCSE anthology. All students went above and beyond by completing the extension task of sourcing and providing their own non-fiction text that their peers can use at a later date for revision purposes.
Fei Lockett Yeung, Auria Ali, Grace Gray (Y9)
For producing excellent book reports on a novel of choice. Fei chose ‘To Kill a Mocking Bird’ by Harper Lee and wrote convincingly bout its power and explained concepts of empathy and judgement with maturity.
Grace wrote a confident review about Jamila Gavin’s ‘Never Forget You’. For Grace the book ‘teaches us to be fearlessly female in every respect’. Her thoughtful discussions about the character relationships in the book have made it a ‘must read’.
Auria wrote a thought provoking review of ‘Heir’ b Sabaa Tahir. For Auria this book stands out amongst so many books clamouring for attention and is a firm favourite.
Fatima-Zahra Loonat, Joanna Michael, Sukaina Mirza, Linda Labban (Y9)
The girls did a brilliant presentation on their ‘Weather Report’ live activity, taking on the role of news reporters to cover the storm on the island in the class text – Lord of the Flies. They described the storm using examples of pathetic fallacy, incorporated accurate quotes from the text and used a dramatic tone throughout the report. They also explained how the weather reflected the character’s mood and their performance was engaging and professional, with the added bonus that it was recorded on their iPad for extra impact.
GEOGRAPHY
Kritika Singh, Ghaniyah Qasim (Y9)
Excellent Young Geographer of the Year Competition entries.
Eesha Bharani (Y10)
For completing an extension project on an Asian country of her choice. Eesha produced a fantastic poster on Singapore, with exceptional use of diagrams and key information covering the topics she had studied across KS3.
Zahra Mazaher (as Y9)
For being able to name all the countries of Asia. Zahra drew on her personal experience and desire to understand her cultural heritage. A fantastic achievement.
Niamh Lester, Shayana Patel (as Y8)
For producing excellent posters for Young Geographer of the Year. Even though the work was completed some time ago both Shayana and Niamh could explain clearly what they had to do and how much they enjoyed finding out above Islands they had not previously hear of.
HISTORY 
Rosa Gurney, Juyrah Hosain (Y11)
For an absolutely brilliant representation of Anschluss via ‘stick man’ cartoon. Rosa worked diligently to understand the information and represent it in cartoon form and created a superb revision tool.
MFL
GERMAN 
Maya Campbell, Coco He (Y7)
For a fabulous presentation on German numbers. Coco chose to produce a beautiful and very detailed poster, exquisitely illustrated. Maya chose to present through the medium of PowerPoint. both were thought out and showed great care and attention.
POLITICS
Ali Croke-Lennon, Milly Wood (Y12)
For producing a brilliant video on how same sex marriages in the US relates to federalisation themes in an engaging way. The rest of the class loved watching.
SCIENCE
BIOLOGY 
Ava Rajp (Y7)
For a fantastic model of an animal cell, wonderfully colourful, creative and informative.
Beke-ere Ivry (Y7)
For a wonderful model of an Algae cell. Fantastically creative and well thought out.
Sienna Connolly (Y7)
For a brilliant and informative model of a plant cell. Sienna used a card box very creatively and was able to include an impressive amount of content.
OTHER
Joselyn Mukwakwami (Y10)
For taking her Higher Project work one step further by preparing a music play list for school events. It is grouped by genre for setting energetic, calm, nostalgic vibes. Joselyn has created a perfect list for many assemblies to come.
Jessica Hung, Ava Rajp, Eliza Smith (Y7)
For outstanding contribution to the EHS Talent Show. All three showed their incredible skill, talent and confidence during their individual performances. It takes great courage to perform in front of the whole school., and to do this whilst in Year 7 is all the more impressive.
Jenna Cambridge, Lucy Coleman, Alice Coles, Matilda Goodrham, Chloe Woodall (Y13)
For outstanding leadership shown by starting off the Talent Show. Their fan favourite went down a storm and for some, it fulfilled an ambition since Year 7. Awesome participation and all-round brilliance.
Ellen Johnson, Freya Taylor (Y11)
For participation in the talent contest, but for also showing care for others and encouraging the Year 7 participants. Fabulous talent!
