The Senior Christmas Concert was the perfect way to welcome the festive season at EHS. The Octagon was filled with families, staff and friends, all gathered to enjoy an evening of music that truly captured the warmth and joy of Christmas.
From the moment the first note was played, it was clear that this would be a special celebration of everything that makes our school community shine.
Students from Year 7 all the way to Year 13 took part, showing the incredible range of talent within our school. Our youngest performers impressed with their confidence, while our senior students demonstrated skill and musical maturity that wowed the audience. Together, they created a concert that highlighted what young people can achieve when their enthusiasm is supported and encouraged.
Collaboration was at the heart of the evening. A wonderful variety of ensembles took to the stage, including the Senior Orchestra, Chamber Choir, Senior Wind Ensemble, Year 7 Choir, Musical Theatre Ensemble and Senior Brass Ensemble. Whether performing classical pieces, musical theatre favourites or much-loved Christmas classics, students cheered each other on and performed with real energy, teamwork and pride.
We offer a special thank you to our Visiting Music Teachers, whose guidance and encouragement play such an important role in helping our musicians develop. We also extend our appreciation to the EHS Music Department for their hard work both behind the scenes and during the concert. Their dedication ensures that music and the performing arts continue to flourish at EHS.
This memorable evening followed last week’s fantastic Year 7 Drama Evenings and came just before our much-anticipated Guitar Ensemble Christmas Assembly. Together, these events show how strong and vibrant the arts are at EHS, offering students valuable opportunities to express themselves, grow in confidence and connect with others.
As the final notes of 'When Christmas Comes to Town' echoed around the Octagon, everyone felt that this concert was more than just a performance, it was a celebration of community and a joyful moment to pause at the end of a busy term. It reminded us all of how music can bring people together and fill the season with warmth.
Wishing everyone a very merry start to Christmas.
