This week, as the leaves have begun to turn yellow, we have focused on the importance of positive mental health. #Helloyellow

Drenched in late Autumn sunshine, this week I have witnessed courage, resilience, excellence, responsibility, perseverance, inclusivity and creativity from pupils across the school as they have immersed themselves in the outdoor adventures available to them. The vibrant and ambitious nature of our school is one that lifts our girls up and I am incredibly proud of the fact that it is one that is brimming with opportunities.

With #HelloYellow this week, the focus has been on, not only wearing items of yellow clothing, but identifying ways to build positive mental health. The benefits of outdoor education are well-established. Not only do they enhance learning experiences, they allow for stronger connections with nature, improved mental health and better educational outcomes for students. Whether it be Year Five gaining inspiration from our hidden garden in the form of the EHS allotment, Year One exploring the local area to develop their geography skills or Reception developing and expanding their use of ambitious vocabulary when describing falling Autumnal leaves, my staff are here to stretch and challenge the girls and bring out the best of them.

Personally, as well as my love of nature, I find music is an incredibly powerful tool when supporting positive mental health. So I was delighted to be treated to a fantastic array of musical performances during the first Teatime Concert of the academic year. Pupils from Years Four-Year Six took to the stage in The Octagon to perform and there was a wonderful plethora of music on offer. From girls who are only just starting out on their musical journey of discovery to those who are far more experienced, every performance was exceptional. Every performance was a unique celebration of the individual pupil who took to the stage and I was delighted to have had the opportunity to share in this joy as proud parents and school governors looked on.

It was a lot of fun bringing a flash of yellow to school this week as we embraced #Helloyellow. Positive mental health is so important and I am hopeful that by encouraging our girls to speak openly about their mental health and to not be afraid to ask for help if they need it, we can empower them and give them the tools to embrace challenge without fear of failure.

Enjoy the Autumnal sunshine this weekend.
