The joy and laughter I witness on a daily basis within the Prep School is infectious and with my office now relocated to the heart of the school, I am fortunate enough that it has become the soundtrack to my day.

Sharing pupils’ work with them, talking to them about their challenges and successes and discovering what is really important to them is something that I am passionate about. This week, I was visited by a group of girls from Kindergarten. They were delighted to have an opportunity to test out the chairs in my office and Naomi revelled in the chance to sit behind my desk and answer the telephone!

We support and nurture our girls and aim to empower them so that they believe they can achieve anything they set their minds too. If this group of three year old girls are anything to go by then they are well-placed for future success. We know that we can provide an education which will ensure the best possible academic progress for each pupil that walks through our doors. But what we are immensely proud of is the inner confidence and delightful self-assurance that our girls possess.

This week, Year Five have been immersing themselves in onomatopoeic poetry. Mrs V-C used mechanical environments to inspire imagination, rhythm and expressive storytelling and the results were impressive. In Year Five, our girls step up a gear! It is an important year, one where the knowledge and understanding required to succeed at 11+ and Senior School Entrance examinations is really put to the test. Routines and expectations are well-established and staff are able to stretch and challenge our girls. But, if the passion and creativity demonstrated by the girls this week is anything to go by, they take this stretch and challenge in their stride and I cannot wait to see what they achieve in the coming academic year.

Tuesday saw our celebration of European Day of Languages and we were thrilled to welcome the author, Gwen Brookes, to join us for an assembly led by our wonderful Languages Specialist, Mme Hennous. The girls were delighted to have the opportunity to pose questions directly to the author and our Year Six Language Ambassadors ably supported the assembly. Our girls learn French, Spanish and German during their time in Prep and our wonderful Senior School Languages teacher offers Mandarin lessons as an inclusive, after-school club.

I am incredibly proud of not just the opportunities available to our girls but also to the way in which the girls embrace these opportunities and make them their own.

Have a super weekend!
