Over the past week, it has filled me with great joy, to gather the whole school community together - pupils, staff, families, friends and governors - sharing our very special celebrations.

At this time of year, we are reminded of how much stronger we are when we come together. Ours is a unique and diverse community, made extraordinary by the support of our families and the love of learning that shines through our girls every single day. Whether you celebrate Christmas, another festival, or simply enjoy the season, our Seasonal Celebration and Christmas performances have been about recognising the values we all hold dear.

Academic challenge has continued right up to the final few days of term, with Year Six completing Snowflake Fraction challenges and our Year Three girls exploring possible career paths from a visit from a Dental Surgery team. Not only were they given the opportunity to discover more about the importance of dental hygiene, but they were able to find out what these fascinating careers might have in store for them.

Visits to the wonderful Birmingham Repertory Theatre have been another highlight of the week for our girls. Reception to Year Two enjoyed a delightful theatrical production of 'Anansi the Spider', showcasing the clever tales of the infamous trickster spider from West African folklore. The production was packed with live music, singing and dancing and was a fabulous experience for all of our girls. For our older pupils in Years Five and Six, the Rep provided the opportunity to see 'Sherlock Holmes and the Twelve Days of Christmas' which was a musical comedy with original music by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Back in school, we will be rounding the week off with our inaugural Santa Dash. This will be a chance to gather the whole school together, dressed in festive accessories and Santa outfits, to run, walk or jog 1km or 2km around the school playing fields. Mrs Sawyers is passionate about providing opportunities for the girls to get active and this will provide a wonderful opportunity to do just that and we cannot wait!

Christmas is, at its heart, a Christian festival that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ—the moment when Christians believe God’s love was made visible in the world. It is a time that reminds Christians of the profound message of peace, love, and goodwill that Jesus brought, a message that continues to inspire and guide Christians today. While its roots are firmly in the Christian faith, the values of kindness, joy, and hope are ones that reach far beyond religion, touching every member of our community. I am so grateful to our pupils for their curiosity and joy, to my staff for their dedication and care and to our families for the unwavering support that makes our community so special. My hope is that our school is one where every girl can flourish, not only academically, but in character, confidence and compassion.

With very best wishes for a peaceful, happy and healthy Christmas break with your families.
