As the EHS School values continue to run through the veins of everything we do, our girls have embraced learning across the school this week.
With the triumphant cheers from the crowds at Twickenham last weekend still ringing in our ears, our girls have made the most of the sporting opportunities available at EHS Prep this week. The Red Roses have been inspirational to our girls and it is wonderful to see female English sports teams are going from strength to strength. Whilst, in recent years, the men have struggled to lift trophies in international team competitions, the women continue to demonstrate the courage, perseverance and aspiration required in order to achieve excellence. As experts in educating girls, these qualities are not a surprise to the team at EHS Prep. We know that girls can achieve great things if they are well supported within the right environment.
I am incredibly proud of the opportunities available to our girls and the way in which the fantastic team of staff inspire and challenge pupils on a daily basis. Whether that be in Nursery, exploring their taste buds, in Kindergarten building core strength and balance on balance bikes, in Year One developing map skills in Geography or in Year Three bringing learning to life at a Roman fort. Our girls are eager to learn. They are eager to embrace challenge and they are eager to be the best version of themselves.
This week, Miss Howarth led a fantastic assembly to highlight National Poetry Day. She invited all of the girls, from Reception to Year Six, to take part in our inaugural Inter-house Poetry Slam competition. Girls are encouraged to write and perform a poem, based on the theme ‘Play’. We will be looking for unique and ambitious pieces of poetry and encourage the girls to think of ways to ensure their performance is engaging for the audience. Finalists will be selected from each form with the grand final taking place on Friday 17 October.
With the Red Roses celebrations still fresh in our minds, I wonder if any of the girls will choose rugby as the theme for their poetry…those incredible women certainly made the most of the opportunity to play for their country!
Have a super weekend.
