It was with great pride that Prep girls took part in their karate examination under the watchful and highly experienced eye of Sensei Welsh.
The atmosphere was filled with a mixture of excitement and anticipation, yet the girls rose to the occasion with focus, respect and great spirit. Their hard work truly shone through. The school is incredibly proud to share that every girl successfully passed her kyu grade examination—a fantastic achievement that reflects their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to their training.
Karate is a hugely popular club which is offered after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for our Prep girls and it offers the girls a wealth of benefits that extend far beyond the dojo. Through regular training, they develop strength, coordination and agility, but just as importantly, they build confidence, resilience and self‑discipline. Karate encourages focus, respect, and perseverance—skills that support their wider learning and personal growth. It also empowers them to believe in their own abilities, to set goals, and to work steadily towards them. These broader life skills are woven into every lesson, making karate a powerful and enriching part of their school experience.
Led by the wonderful Rahela Gordon, the girls have worked extremely hard throughout the term, approaching every lesson with enthusiasm, determination and a wonderful sense of fun. Their commitment to learning the full karate examination syllabus has been evident in every session. They have embraced new techniques, refined their stances and demonstrated impressive discipline. It has been a pleasure to watch their confidence grow as they supported one another, practised diligently and tackled each new challenge with positivity and resilience.
