We are seeking to appoint an excellent, committed, enthusiastic and dynamic Senior Science Technician to support our students and staff in the Chemistry department. You would be working as part of our 3-strong technician team who support practical work across key stage 3-5 in Biology, Physics and Chemistry. The laboratories at EHS are extremely well resourced and practical work is at the heart of our curriculum. 

Every day will be different, but there will also be the element of routine. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of equipment and supplies as well as co-ordinating and organising practical resources and equipment to support the teachers in the Chemistry department. They will need a sound understanding of health and safety procedures. They will be expected to work collaboratively and positively with two other science technicians, as well as teaching staff across the Science department.

£24,804 per annum plus a package of benefits

Laboratory experience is essential. 

Working within a school or college environment would be beneficial.

A recognised degree or practical training in a science-related field is essential. 

Basic Health & Safety certificate would be desirable, along with experience with materials & procedures subject to COSHH Regulations.

This is a full-time permanent position, working during the term and school holidays

37.5 hours per week: Monday to Friday 8.15am - 4.15pm 

Tuesday 14th April 2026 (at the start of the summer term)

Interviews will take place at Edgbaston High School for Girls during the week commencing 23rd February. Successful candidates will be invited to a formal interview. There will be a practical lab-based task and also be an opportunity to tour the School on the day.

Original certificates/licences will be required as proof of qualification. All other attributes will be assessed using the contents of the application form, at interview and with the professional references.
