Our Team of AV and IT professionals provide essential technical support across the school for large scale events and assemblies as well as day to day needs. Each year we provide a paid placement opportunity for a student to gain valuable experience as part of their degree.

This is a varied role, and the placement student will gain valuable experience as part of an established team offering support to colleagues across the School. They will have the opportunity to develop skills and expertise facilitating large and small-scale shows and performances; awards ceremonies; regular assemblies; staff meetings; lessons; examinations and other events. They will occasionally provide technical support required for community use of the school facilities.
The role will involve the use of a wide range of software and equipment including sound, lighting and staging gear. Specific training will be provided for equipment and software where necessary. It will also offer the opportunity to support and train the students in their knowledge and use of equipment.
The successful candidate will be someone capable of taking ownership of their work, following through to a satisfactory conclusion. They will already have a good understanding of Health & Safety and GDPR procedures and requirements, as well as the safe use of equipment. They will be expected to build positive working relationships with all school staff and ensure the school events can operate as smoothly as possible to create the best environment for our pupils.
Up to £18,175 per annum (depending on age) plus a package of benefits and generous holiday allowance
37.5 hours a week during term time (Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm including 1 hour lunch break)
25 hours a week during school holidays (Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 1:00pm)
1 July 2026 to 31 June 2027

Interviews will take place at Edgbaston High School for Girls during the week commencing 2nd March. Successful candidates will be invited to a formal interview. There will be a practical task and also be an opportunity to tour the School and facilities on the day.

Original certificates/licences will be required as proof of qualification. All other attributes will be assessed using the contents of the application form, at interview and with the professional references.
