Having ended last week supporting Children in Need, this week began with Year 4 visiting Selly Manor to further their knowledge of life in Tudor times.

On Tuesday morning, we continued to consider approaches we can take to problem solving as we looked at the four step approach taken by Odysseus as he escaped from the giant Polyphemus.  We hope the girls will find these ideas helpful if they face any problems.

House assemblies were held on Wednesday morning and our House Captains used Thanksgiving as their theme. They also awarded certificates for House points gained. This is a great opportunity for the girls of all ages from Years 1 – 6 to mix together and celebrate achievements.

As we come to the end of Switch Off Fortnight many family pledges have appeared on the Eco Board demonstrating the girls’ interest in doing all they can to save the planet. On the theme of helping Thursday’s Assembly also had an environmental theme when the outcomes of the COP 27 Conference were shared. The story of saving the starfish was also shared with the message that our small individual efforts can make a difference.

We have ended the week with our Celebration Assembly. There were Well Done Certificates for girls in Years 1 and 2 and birthday wishes were shared too.  We also awarded the first Independent Learning Certificates for the new Time Travel Challenge Board. These were presented to Hannah Cooray, Kira Mehta and Anaya Ahmad. We are looking forward to seeing other entries in the coming weeks. Well done also to Katerina Thomas who has gained her Silver Award at Brownies.

Next week we are looking forward to the arrival of the Stardome Planetarium on Monday and to welcoming parents in to school on Thursday for the Guitar Assembly and the Year 2 Nativity which features Year 1 for the first time.

Good luck to our netball team who are looking forward to their first competitive fixture on Saturday.
