Yr 12 UCAS Induction

Sixth Form

18 June 2021

Getting students ready to make the right, informed decisions about Higher Education and the next steps once they leave us, is a key focus for us all here at EHS. As a school we are proud of our provision and careers education and benefit from a dedicated careers room, specialist UCAS advisors, as well as a highly experienced Head of Careers.

This week, our Year 12 pupils took part in a UCAS induction day with a number of workshops set up to help the girls register with UCAS, refine and work on their Personal Statements, and look at choosing appropriate higher education courses.

The girls have already had individual interviews with one of our UCAS team to discuss their aspirations and been given guidance tailored to individual needs. For example, it is essential that those girls wishing to apply to Oxbridge, Music College or for Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Science, submit their applications early and so need to complete the process more promptly than the rest of the year group.

In the increasingly competitive world of Higher Education it is important for students to make judicious and well-informed choices so that they can fulfil their potential and in the Autumn Term, this work will be followed up with further individual support and guidance as the girls draft their Personal Statements and complete their UCAS forms.
