The focused rhyme of the week this week in Nursery has been Polly Put the Kettle On.  The girls have really enjoyed a range of activities, which have included enjoying a cup of tea with Mrs Hartley over Zoom on Monday morning and holding their own tea parties.  They have also completed phonic and number work and the story, ‘The Tiger who came to Tea’.

Reception girls joined the pupils in Years 1 and 2 via Zoom for their first taste of a Prep assembly this week.  It was very exciting to see everyone on the screen and we are looking forward to them ‘zooming’ in each week.

The theme of the assembly was stories, as part of National Storytelling week.  We talked a little about how stories have been told for thousands of years by parents to their children.  We then had a little quiz to see how many stories the girls could recognise from just several lines of description.

They are all clearly excellent storytellers as they guessed them all correctly.

In Reception, the girls have read and rewritten the story of The Enormous Turnip and have also been learning, independently, about root vegetables.  We are sure this will encourage them to grow some of their own and to enjoy eating them.
