Concert Celebrates Musical Diversity and Collaboration

Westbourne | Preparatory | Senior School | Sixth Form

22 March 2024

This term, pupils from across the school have enjoyed performing solo pieces in our Teatime Concerts and in the Prep and Senior School Musician of the Year competitions.

We have, however, finished the term with pupils enjoying ensembles music, working with fellow musicians, in our whole school concert which featured musicians from the age of 5 to 18 years old.  This is a special opportunity offered to pupils who attend an all through school. Girls at the start of their musical journey can gain inspiration from playing and singing alongside our more accomplished and experienced performers.

The concert, held in our Octagon theatre, showcased 16 different ensemble groups including five choirs and two orchestras. There were also performances from the Prep Guitar, String, Flute Ensembles and our Advanced Group. The Senior School performers featured the Wind, World Music, Flute, String Ensembles and the Senior Band.

It was particularly inspiring to watch two of our Year 12 students conducting the Senior School Choirs and the Prep Advanced Ensemble working together without an adult.  All of the students gave confident and assured performances in a wide range of musical genre and the concert was enjoyed by all.

The evening finished with all of the performers joining together in a massed piece to perform the school song.

Our thanks to all of the performers and Music Staff for an evening filled with melodious music.
