Gymnasts compete against West Midlands Schools

Senior School

06 December 2019

On Saturday, six EHS gymnasts travelled to Fenton Manor Leisure Centre in Stoke. The girls were competing in this prestigious competition in two separate teams, fighting to qualify through to national finals.

The Under 13 team was made up of Matilda Goodrham, Rhea Ganesh and Charlotte Vaughan. Each gymnast had to perform a floor routine to music, two vaults and a trio routine. The girls performed with precision, energy and great execution. The combination of all their scores added together placed them in 4th position overall, narrowly missing out on a bronze medal. Matilda must be congratulated for her accomplished floor and vault performances that gave her the highest score for her age group.

The Under 16 team comprised Charlotte Miller, Lucy Vaughan and Mollie Hewison. Once again, the girls performed with great execution on the floor and vault and their trio entertained the judges with a routine that showed great artistry. We were delighted to learn that the girls won their age group and a gold medal and will now represent the West Midlands in March; congratulations to the team on their fantastic team work. We must also congratulate Mollie Hewison on her floor and vault performances that gave her the highest score for her age group and second highest overall score of the day, only being beaten by 0.5 and a boy!

Well done to all girls and a big thank you must go to Year 11’s Millie Corbett, who was a great help to Mrs. Hewison on the day.
